International Development Group LLC Awarded $34 Million USAID Project to Facilitate Economic Growth in Indo-Pacific Region

International Development Group LLC (IDG) has been awarded a $34 million USAID project to facilitate economic growth in the Indo-Pacific region through the Indo-Pacific Opportunity Program (IPOP). IPOP is a 5-year activity designed to address economic objectives under the Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS). It aims to create inclusive and sustainable economic growth, encourage regional cooperation, promote good governance, and improve the management of institutions. IPOP is managed by the Asia Bureau in Washington and works closely with USAID Missions and projects in the region.

Potential IPOP activities range from economic and private sector assessments to quick, on-demand mobilization of technical assistance activities in any IPOP country. IPOP is open to buy-ins from individual Missions on a short- or long-term basis. IPOP allows rapid mobilization of activities that fall under any of IPOP’s four Objectives.

IPOP’s four main Objectives are:

Objective 1: Improve Trade & Investment Policy & Capacity

  • Promote free, fair & reciprocal trade, and set transparent systems for trade.
  • Implement business friendly regulations.
  • Improve commercial laws & trade regimes to reduce barriers to trade.
  • Promote Digital Trade to help micro and small businesses.

Objective 2: Strengthen Ability to Implement Sustainable & High-Quality Infrastructure Projects

  • Reform policies for infrastructure investments and promote private sector investment.
  • Expand energy access and strengthen energy security.
  • Implement strong governance of natural resources through quality and transparent institutions.

Objective 3: Improve Macroeconomic & Fiscal Policy

  • Improve fiscal policies addressing public revenue, budget, expenditure, and debt.
  • Improve fiscal and macroeconomic policies to integrate public investment planning and social expenditures to promote inclusive growth.
  • Strengthen investment efficiency through increased private sector provision in ICT, energy, and natural resource management.

Objective 4: Strengthen Democratic Systems to Oversee PFM

  • Promote transparency and openness through e-governance.
  • Strengthen public institutions through evidence-based policy analysis.
  • Support alliances between CSOs and governments to promote PFM reform, financial transparency, and anti-corruption policies.
