Trade Advocacy Fund (TAF) in Somaliland

IDG worked through the DFID-funded Trade Advocacy Fund (TAF) to provide support to the Government of Somaliland to engage in trade negotiations through the provision of:

  • Short term technical assistance to provide independent technical and legal advice on specific trade subjects.
  • Long term technical assistance to support the activities of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment (MCI) to coordinate the trade negotiations across the government and with the private sector and civil society.
  • Training and capacity building.

The purpose of this activity was also to improve the trade policy regime but also to strengthen trade facilitation so that firms in Somaliland are better able to conduct trade with firms and consumers throughout East Africa and beyond.
