Under USAID IPOP, the Vessel Greening Activity is developing a vessel fleet upgrading program for South Asian countries, especially in India and Bangladesh. As a result, modern inland waterway vessels will be efficient, safe, clean, respond to market demands, and align with international best practices. This upgrading is aimed at improving inland waterway transport connectivity that will enable access for urban and rural communities to safe and clean transport means, growth for the local shipping industry, and direct and indirect economic impacts.
