A major element of achieving economic growth and poverty reduction is through capacity building. Capacity building in interwoven throughout IDG work, including through technical assistance, mentoring, hiring local experts, subcontracting to local organizations, providing grants under contract (GUCs), and training.
An essential element of CBEE-R’s implementation involves enhancing the capabilities of the public and private sectors in the Caribbean to undertake critical BEE reforms by providing specialized training, technical support, and grants. The program aims to bolster the capacity to establish a robust and meaningful Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) where the private sector’s concerns are acknowledged and addressed by policymakers in the public sector. CBEE-R will offer comprehensive grant programs to support capacity building and grantees during the grant application, co-creation process, and implementation stages.
We integrate capacity building into all of our projects to strive towards self-reliance of Indo-Pacific economies and local institutions. IPOP’s Sri Lanka Tourism Assistance activity has been collaborating with other USAID programs based in Sri Lanka. The focus of the cross-activity cooperation has assisted in promoting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, enabling business environments, and building capacity in targeted niche tourism industry. The teams continue to plan further interagency discussions to find best practices to provide technical support and sustainability frameworks for the Sri Lankan tourism industry.
The analysis found US Bangladeshi diasporas are highly skilled and actively involved in supporting Bangladesh’s development, including by building capacity of local companies, government and civil society organizations.
The EGDP team conducted several capacity assessment sessions to review the One Stop Shop / Citizen Service Center’s structure, operations, human capacity, and work streams to identify potential capacity building needs.
